The ferry Herjólfur will take us to Heimaey or the home island. Westman islands are a group of islands off the south coast of Iceland. Heimaey is the only island that is inhabited all year long. The sailing time is around 40 minutes by ferry . You can enjoy the islands and if you look towards the main island - Iceland you have a great overview of our south coast and Eyjafjallajökull. It is magnificent when we enter the harbor and it feels like the seabirds and puffins are welcoming us, during spring and summer. Westman islands host the largest puffin colony in the world. From late April to late August you have the opportunity to see puffins and if you do not you can always visit the puffin sanctuary in Sea life trust (not included) worth visiting.
